So how much protein do we need? The answer may surprise you. Discover confirmed medical guidelines for daily protein intake and calculate your targeted goals here.

Years ago I decided there were too many different answers to this question so I researched medical consensus and created a formula to use in my bariatric bestseller, Before and After. It’s not as much as you *think*. The average 145 pound woman needs just 52 grams of protein per day.
Medical science concurs that a target of .8 grams of protein per kilogram of ideal body weight will keep the body stoked without cutting back on hair production or resorting to muscle loss.
The RDA is the amount of a nutrient you need to meet your basic nutritional requirements. In a sense, it's the minimum amount you need to consume consistently average each day to prevent nutritional issues — not the specific or maximum amount you are supposed to eat every day.
